Creative Every Day Check-In: January 9 – 15

January 9th, 2012

This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities. To those who celebrate, I hope you have a beautiful Christmas!

Join in the Challenge: You can now sign-up for the 2012 Challenge here!

Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 1/9/12 - 1/15/12.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, you can use the hashtag #CED2012!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for January is New, which you can read more about and get ideas for here.

Happy Creating!

I have always been delighted at the prospect of a new day, a fresh try, one more start, with perhaps a bit of magic waiting somewhere behind the morning. ~J. B. Priestly

I love Creative Every Day. I participated in Art Every Day Month and just may jump on board to the Creative Every Day Challenge – if it’s not too late.

Anyhoo, I wanted you to know that I’ve awarded you the Versatile Blogger Award. I just love popping by here.

Have a wonderfully creative year.

Another exciting week!

I so appreciate you’re hosting this every week, it’s the best one I join, bar none. :o )

Hello, I’ve made the rash decision to give this year’s challenge a go – can’t promise to post frequently, but will give it a good shot. Thanks for the metaphorical kick up the behind.

Something new and different..and a bit of winter fun:

Up before the sun and already spinning out the ideas for the studio. Looks like a productive week ahead!

Fiddled with flowers this week. My favorite thing.

Some word art and some reflective writing for this week. A new word art coming up on Wednesday :) Things are picking up in the creative department!

It’s another great week for knitting. I’m also working on meditation and can feel another floral sketch coming. Feels like it’s going to be a great week creatively :)

I was busy last week getting images and content moved over to my new website, but now I have the basic structure of the site set up, I am looking forward to getting back to the fun of art – drawing and painting!

I’m starting a new theme of shoes, so that fits with the word of the month, New, doesn’t it?

Look forward to seeing others creative endeavors! :-)

This is new to me and I look forward to it! I hope you enjoy my pink glitterhouse.

working on making my skin a canvas, so we’ll see what happens as this year progresses.

I have just found this blog and registered ! all my commitments will fill up my year art journal !!
thanks !

I used to blog at HandMade At HavenWood, but I recently started a new blog. I have made amazing strides in my art, and in finding my style, and it all started with the Art Every Day Challenge. That challenge totally changed my life, and I will be forever grateful!

Struggling to find my footing as you’ll see if you visit my blog. I have lots of plans for this year and am so grateful for this challenge for accountability. Also want to be gentle with myself as I begin.

I’m reminded by your post how important it is to use daily living as the canvas for my everyday art. We never know when the spirit of wonder will run rampant through us now do we!! One day it could be at the keyboard and the next day in the kitchen.

For this very reason I choose to use each email I write as an opportunity to improve my writing skills and each meal I make an opportunity to enjoy cultivating the fine art of food assembling and preparation.

I made a video over the weekend ^.^ This week, I think I’m going to test my watercolor pencils….

The movie “Julie & Julia” inspired me to do process art and blog about it every day in 2012 as a transformational practice. I invite everyone involved with Creative Every Day to join me at Process Art Journal as a visitor, commenter, and/or fellow process artist/blogger.

Process art is about the internal process of making art rather than on the product, outcome, or meaning. It’s a wonderful way to cultivate presence and connection with one’s deeper self as well as to incorporate art into everyday life.

Please visit my blog at http://www.processartjournal.com/

And thank you, Leah, for what you’re doing here — very inspiring!!

I am no where near as creative as some of these talented women but I really appreciate you allowing me to participate in this BEAUTIFUL challenge. Just being on this site inspires me!!!

NEW…oh, how I love that word. There are so many areas in my life that I need to make new. New for me right now is allowing myself to write about my spiritual & personal journey without fear of being judged. Allowing myself to be me & follow my heart and not worrying about what you may think of me for it. And to love anew WITHOUT FEAR!!!!

Sending love your way, Barefoot Mama

Putting ideas into words and then stating them…well I will try to paint a flower and a children’s illustration each week. We will see :)

I have learned to redefine what creativity really is. Making a meal out of whatever is in the fridge, writing a thank you card, or hemming a pair of pants can all be creative acts. Thank you for hosting this commitment to live a creative life.

My creative epiphany for the week had to do with a new understanding and has allowed me some freedom to look at pieces not as mistakes but as detours.

I also found myself seeing creativity in even some of my most mundane tasks by imagining what objects the objects I was handling could be used for in different ways…a broken pair of glasses ended up in a mixed media piece.

Happy Monday everyone! I have starting experimenting with a new project and the start of it is posted on my blog if you want a peek. I’m excited to start the new year and “New” is the perfect way to get us all going. There’s so much potential in a new start. I’m just brimming with ideas and I bet you are too!

My “new” today is to slip back into last summer with a hot cup of mint tea and warm up. Today’s post “For the Love of Brown-eyed Susan” adds the bonus of a summer photograph to help bring in a bit of a zing to our January gray here on the west coast of Canada. Today I also ship my original oil painting “Storm Coming” to its new home in Ohio. Off to make another pot of mint tea…

p.s. Leah, I didn’t mean to list by my email address in my first attempt today. Is it possible to delete that listing? Or do we just have to live with it? Many thanks :)

Thanks for hosting a great site. I’ve been looking for awhile after finding it sometime last year, so thought I would try to participate some this year!
I’m a blogging newbie!

Welcome to everyone who is new! So excited to be sharing this year with you!

Terrill, no problem. I deleted the email address listing!

So many amazing projects on the go here – I can’t wait to explore them!

This week’s focus – reclaiming the wisdom from the moon inside. Happy Full Wolf Moon friends!

For me, there are two new things: painting in acrylics, and entering the sketchbook project. I’m also thinking of entering two local shows coming up, one at the local recreation center and the other at a hospital in a nearby town. I’d never have the courage if it weren’t for this group!

Just completed a ‘new’ commission. ;) Just to stretch the theme application to its absolute limits. Looks like lots of new creative lovelies to explore now…

I signed up to do this back in 2009 and just a little bit into the year, I quit. I’m giving it another go this year with a daily photo project. I have no themes or guidelines other than a few self imposed rules about
1) not cheating
2) being okay with falling behind a little on posting as long as I don’t fall behind on taking my daily photo

So far, so good – but we are only 10 days into the new year…

I’m off to take a look at some of the wonderful things people are posting on their web sites!!

I’m excited to be part of this…hope to get my creative juices flowing, be inspired, and be part of this wonderful creative community!

My harddrive on my computer died, so I had to wait for it to be fixed before I could post. Thanks to my husband who was able to save my files. Everyone make sure that tou have a back up drive.

Hi! I linked up my blog, but I had to do it twice. The first time it redirects to some weird survey or something… sorry about that!

A bit of inkblot action. :)

Oops, put the wrong link, sorry!

Finally got one out. Whew!

This sounds like a great challenge for 2012, so we’re really happy to be on-board. You’ve inspired us to hunker down and just get productive, which is a very good thing. Thanks!

starting off the year slowly in blogging land, but I’ve got a start :) Looking forward to this challenge! :)

I have just found my way to your creative challenge and I’ve just had to join in. I don;t have anything to share this week, but I’ll definitely be back!

Its nice to see your work on this blog and the linky party is a great idea to stay connect!

I entered 4 times for the week.
3 are “new” images and the one is a “new” use for something :)
Blessings to everyone, and I LOVE your wonderful sewing projects…I used to make baby clothes many, many moons ago…that baby is now 29, LOL

Be well,
Susan

It was a super creative week, so much going on and such an exciting part of the year.
