Art Every Day Month 2013, Day 1

November 1st, 2013

aedmlogored

Today is the 1st day of Art Every Day Month! I'm thrilled that you'll be joining me for a month of creating.

I usually post my art at the end of the day, but every morning there will be a check-in post like this one, where you can share your work whenever you're ready to do so.

The box below is a widget that I provide each day as an optional place to share a direct link (blog post or flickr image) to that day's creation. If you don't have something to share today, don't worry about it! Share when you can. In the meantime, be sure to check out what other participants are creating! Check out the links from today's post and the links on the participant page for instant inspiration. You can also see lots of great work in the AEDM flickr group. Feel free to share your work there too!

If you use the widget, please link to a specific blog post, not your main blog page or website (or you can link to a specific image if you're linking to a flickr page.) For example, in a past AEDM, for day one I linked to my first post: http://creativeeveryday.com/creativeeveryday/2010/11/the-owl-and-the-pussycat.html instead of my main blog page: http://www.creativeeveryday.com. This makes it easier for people to find your work.  If you want to share, but don't have a specific page to link to, feel free to use the comments section of this post to share what you're working on. If you're posting less than once a day, no problem! Simply use the latest one of these posts to share a link to your creation. For some, it's too much to keep up with posting every day, but don't let that get you down. Do it if you can and if you can't, just keep on creating, that's the most important part. If you get off track and miss a few days of creating, don't let that freeze you up either. Just pick up where you left off and keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. You are making your life a more creative one with each step.

How to participate in Art Every Day Month: Check out the AEDM info page for all the details, instructions on how to get involved, and then visit the participant sign up page before you use the link widget to share your creations. The Information page also has instructions about how to use the widget below, if you're having any trouble with it.

Survival Guide: If you feel like you could use some more support, prompts, and motivation to keep going throughout the month, check out the Art Every Day Month Survival Guide.

Twitter: If you're on Twitter (I'm on there as @leah_art), I'll be using the hashtag #aedm2013 to mark Art Every Day Month tweets. It helps to find others who are tweeting about AEDM!

Instagram: You can use the same #aedm2013 hashtag if you're playing along on Instagram.

Creative Every Day Challenge participants: If you're not doing Art Every Day Month, you can still use any of the daily Art Every Day Month check-in posts to leave your weekly link.

I’m looking forward to participating again this year. Good luck with this month’s challenge, everyone. :)

Glad to be joining in!

HEllo, my first time joining in and excited to see what others will be doing. I’m not sure why but my link picture is sideways, if you can fix it for me please do so, if not that’s ok.
Happy November and have fun this month everybody!

Looking forward to the AED challenge to get back in touch with all you talented folks!

I won’t use the widget every day as I’m planning on doing a weekly round-up on my stitchery blog and posting every few days on my art blog. Still, I’ll link here when I’ve something to share – promise!=)

I will be here as time allows and thank you for hosting. I do look forward to visiting all the creativity.

I am so happy to be participating again and enjoying the company of such marvelous artists throughout November and beyond!

This challenge is a wonderful opportunity to become inspired. Thank you Leah for hosting this fun project.

I’m really looking forward to this challenge and seeing what everyone else is creating.

Here’s wishing you all well with the challenge, thanks so much for hosting Leah!

Leah, I have been absent for so long! I suddenly realized that it’s November and your annual challenge for November! I actually set myself a challenge to do art everyday, even for 10 mins. So, I hope to be able to share. I am changing my blog site so I need to update with you. However, thanks for continuing being an inspiration. Angela

Thanks for hosting this, I’m looking forward to meeting the challenge ;)

This is my 1st day here and I love it already! Thank you for hosting this beautiful place! I look forward to reading more blogs and sharing the love of art with you all!

Hello Leah, I am trying to figure out how to link my actual day link each day. Just tried it out and had to leave a second link up sorry, it’s just for practice to see if I’m doing it right. Hoping it won’t take long for me to get the swing of it.
I’ve enjoyed seeing art from others today, so nice to have this place to share. Thanks so much!

I am thrilled to be here with everyone. I have been enjoying visiting everyone’s blogs.
I am not sure if it is me or what, but I am having trouble finding comment buttons.

The other problem I am having is that blogger blogs only seem to let me post with my G+ account. I am including a link to my blog in those comments, I hope it does not offend anyone.

I skipped doing this last year because of my work load in my “day” job and have not carved out much time for art but not this year! I started doing art again in 2009 because of Art Everyday and it’s time to start back again in 2013!

I followed along and completed AEDM 2012, but never linked or commented or shared pics. Last year’s challenge inspired me to embark on a year long challenge for 2013 where I make a handmade book each week. I’m on book 44 this week and super grateful to AEDM for helping me get my butt in gear :-) . This year I’m ALL IN!!! Super excited to build community around art and creativity. A huge thank you to you, Leah!!!

Hi! I found out about this a day late, but I love the idea of AEDM and am jumping in for the first time. Thanks so much for hosting this!

Hm. I just tried the Mr. Linky thing, and pointed to the actual URL of the .jpg for my day 1 art. It looked OK as a thumbnail in the Mr. Linky window, but now it looks like an orange person outline on a green background, on this page. Not ideal. Any idea why it did that? If it’s just waiting to be screened, I’m fine with that. If I need to choose a smaller thumbnail, I can totally do that; I just need to know. Ideally, I’d like to make a new thumbnail for each day’s art. Thanks in advance for any tips!

Aha, OK, feel free to disregard the questions in my last comment–I see, now, that my thumbnail IS there, after all, and that the orange-person-on-green thumbnail is a teaser. Sorry I didn’t catch that the first time. Learning curve! :-)
