Art Every Day Month: November 16th

November 16th, 2009

aedmlogored

Today is the 16th day of Art Every Day Month. Somewhere along the way you may feel like throwing in the towel and walking away. Perhaps you are putting too much pressure on yourself to do it all perfectly. If so, give yourself permission to take it easy today. Do something simple and small until you've gathered your energy again. Take baby steps. They'll get you through on those days when it seems so hard. And you'll feel better for taking that small step forward.

The box below is a widget that I provide each day as an optional place to share a direct link (blog post or flickr image) to that day's creation. If you don't have something to share today, don't worry about it! Share when you can. In the meantime, be sure to check out what other participants are creating! Check out the links from today's post and the links in the sidebar for instant inspiration. You can also see lots of great work in the AEDM flickr group. Feel free to share your work there too!

If you use the widget, please link to a specific blog post (or specific image if you're linking to a flickr page or other website) instead of your main blog page or website. If you want to share, but don't have a specific page to link to, feel free to use the comments section of this post to share what you're working on. If you're posting less than once a day, no problem! Simply use the latest one of these posts to share a link to your creation. For some, it's too much to keep up with posting every day, but don't let that get you down. Do it if you can and if you can't, just keep on creating, that's the most important part. If you get off track and miss a few days of creating, don't let that freeze you up either. Just pick up where you left off and keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. You are making your life a more creative one with each step.

If you're new to Art Every Day Month, check out the AEDM info page for all the details, then send me an email to sign-up before you use the link widget to share your creations. (If that email link isn't working, you can email me at leah at bluetreeartgallery.com)

Instructions: Please see the Art Every Day Month Instructions post if you have any confusion about how to post your link or how to sign up.

Twitter: Are you participating in AEDM and you're on Twitter too? I'm on there as @leah_art and I've been using the hashtag #aedm to mark Art Every Day Month tweets. I also started a Twitter list for AEDM which can help you easily find Twitter folks who are participating. If you're not on the Twitter list yet and would like to be, send me a DM (Direct Message on Twitter.)

Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in a different way. ~Edward de Bono

Update: I've just switched web hosts, so my spam filter is catching a lot of comments and storing them until I approve them. If you don't see your comment show up right away, it's probably because I have to approve it first. Thanks for your patience!

Come see my mermaid, if you would like : )

I've demystified the process of creating self striping sock yarn (the kind that make magical patterns before your very eyes!).  I used koolaid, and natural dyes (that may be lurking in your kitchen too!)
Photos of the messy process are included.  It is LOTS of fun.

Lots of pictures show the messy process.  It is LOTS of fun.

You're reading my mind! I had such a puttery day yesterday. I concentrated a lot on art, but I did not accomplish anything! Sometimes it's the attitude — of moving toward creativity — that matters. A take-it-easy day is the perfect Rx.

I can't believe I'm still going – hope to make it through the whole month!

I have a photoshop tutorial today and a couple of bird sketches.
Leah, I am loving your paintings – love the kitty.

wow! halfway there- hard to believe! this has been great, even if there isn't a daily masterpiece in my studio :)

Catching up on AEDM posts!  Had a fun weekend -  played with art stuff and even accomplished a few things.  Actually made a home-cooked meal and sat down to dinner with my family which doesn't happen near enough with our schedule.  Hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

My offering today is an offering of love from Spirit. Bright blessings!
Thank you for all that you do for us here in your community.

Another tile from me, and a question. I am looking for artists who issue Certificates of Authenticity for their work and how they do that.

Today I did a pencil drawing of a grasshopper in honor of the new nickname I have been given by the new man in my life. He wants me to have the freedom to roam free even as we get closer. Find out why in my blog today!
Thanks for the visits. You guys are a supportive loving community!

Finished some bad art that I started yesterday….lol! I may need a paint roller to go over it but it was freeing to just do it. Sometimes we need to not be so serious..thanks for the permission to play. Injoyed the podcast!

I offered a very deep Scorpio new moon poem to represent my Tarot project its four of cups today…

I added quotes about hanging in there and dealing with overwhelming situations to my background I created earlier this month.

These past few days I've been busy selling my jewelry and handmade cards at a holiday fair. I also finished up a painting on paper that I'm really pleased with. Having to do something every day has been encouraging me to try all sorts of things.

Doing more 20 minute studies!  It's great; I feel like I'm making progress first thing in the morning.  Ok, the studies are rough…but isn't that what studying is all about?
Hey Rennata, I do a letter of authentication for my paintings.  I'll try to contact you.

Yeah — I'm number 42 for today.  My favorite number and a good sign that Art may, also, be the answer to everything!  My entry today is about the blessing of being called from to-do's into to-BE's.  Enjoy!

Somehow I managed to link under yesterday's date instead of today's. So now there are 2 consecutive links to my blog for the same date. Sorry! Anyway, I've been spending a couple of weeks trying to find the best products to use to make a hexagon quilt by hand. What I came up with is a little unconventional, but it's working for me.

almost threw in the towel today, but took my walk instead and had an epiphany.

Pure stream of consciousness doodling when I was in a weekend workshop.  The class was about the workings of the subconscious so it was interesting to go back and look at what I drew in relation to the content!

I spent today writing my newsletter–does that count?

Other good artsy news, I won 2nd place in an art show this weekend!! whooohooo!  My first time ever winning anything for my art :) )))
Have great week Lia :)

Yesterday was a busy day for me. Gym, painting, meeting, painting, writing….oh wait I needed to photograph those paintings….Why are my days off my busiest. I’m always glad to go back to work.

Day 15, 16, and 17 are up in one post. Whew! I have enjoyed this challenge, but I have to say color correcting the art and blogging it is very time consuming. I see some are just posting on flicker, but I think it is good for me to use it as a blog entry, it is just more work than just the art but still good for me. Half way through!
