Art Every Day Month Check-In: Day 19

November 19th, 2010

aedmlogored

Welcome to the 19th day of Art Every Day Month. I've noticed some folks worried they haven't done enough or are cheating by working on something that they've already started. Don't let those voices get to you! You are doing great! Working on or re-working something you started earlier is fabulous! I think any opportunity to create is a beautiful thing, so revel in that and let the not-enough-monster roll right off your back.

The box below is a widget that I provide each day as an optional place to share a direct link (blog post or flickr image) to that day's creation. If you don't have something to share today, don't worry about it! Share when you can. In the meantime, be sure to check out what other participants are creating! Check out the links from today's post and the links on the participant page for instant inspiration. You can also see lots of great work in the AEDM flickr group. Feel free to share your work there too!

If you use the widget, please link to a specific blog post, not your main blog page or website (or you can link to a specific image if you're linking to a flickr page.) For example, for day one I would link to my first post: http://creativeeveryday.com/creativeeveryday/2010/11/the-owl-and-the-pussycat.html instead of my main blog page: http://www.creativeeveryday.com. This makes it easier for people to find your work.  If you want to share, but don't have a specific page to link to, feel free to use the comments section of this post to share what you're working on. If you're posting less than once a day, no problem! Simply use the latest one of these posts to share a link to your creation. For some, it's too much to keep up with posting every day, but don't let that get you down. Do it if you can and if you can't, just keep on creating, that's the most important part. If you get off track and miss a few days of creating, don't let that freeze you up either. Just pick up where you left off and keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. You are making your life a more creative one with each step.

How to participate in Art Every Day Month: Check out the AEDM info page for all the details, instructions on how to get involved, and then visit the participants page to sign-up before you use the link widget to share your creations. The Information page also has instructions about how to use the widget below, if you're having any trouble with it.

Survival Guide: If you feel like you could use some more support, prompts, and motivation to keep going throughout the month, check out the Art Every Day Month Survival Guide.

Twitter: If you're on Twitter (I'm on there as @leah_art), I've been using the hashtag #aedm2010 to mark Art Every Day Month tweets. It helps to find others who are tweeting about AEDM!

Creative Every Day Challenge participants: If you're not doing Art Every Day Month, you can still use any of the daily Art Every Day Month check-in posts to leave your weekly link.

Not every thing you create will be a masterpiece, but you get out there and try. Sometimes it happens, the other times you're just stretching your soul. -Maya Angelou

This just keeps getting better! Hooray!

Playing catch up with my post, several days worth of quilting stuff I’ve been doing.

I found an old painting and played with it today.
It really keeps better and better :-)

It’s birds on my blog, too. I posted another watercolour painting on my blog this morning that I painted late last night.

I seem to cycle around, stone carving, pottery, watercolour, stone carving, pottery, watercolour…

Agh, my wonderfully productive streak last week hit a bog this week and I’ve only managed one piece in four or five days. That and I’m horrifically behind in my blog hopping and commenting.

I hope everyone has been having some success. I’m waving my cheerleading pom-poms at all of you and hopefully will be able to drop by soon to congratulate you all on your individual achievements.

Nutty
(real life ate me and spat me out between its teeth)

I’m enjoying AEDM so much. Again, Leah, thank you for the creative incentive to do the things that have been buzzing in my head for so long!
I’ve begun a portrait which I’ll be posting about as I progress with it.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

yes!
it just gets better and better <3

In my bloghopping, I have seen several people wondering about art, or their art, and being BOLD to post…
it got me contemplating those questions as well. I have posted my reponse.
Please leave a comment about what you think Art is.

Holy cow day 19, I’ve been kinda boring these past couple days and it will prolly carry into tomm., but Sunday I should hopefully have something fun, but I do like seeing what everybody else has done.

Today will just be one more coat on that blasted table but that should be the last coat and then I can paint the design on it…yay! That will be a fun weekend project. =)

I spent most of my day redesigning my blog. I’ve posted about this & about what visual changes can represent.

Hope day 19 is proving creative for you all!

[...] actually painted this labyrinth for yesterday’s Art Every Day Month piece, and was unhappy with [...]

had a rough start to the morning so i used the rest of the day for some art therapy – painted a pegboard, made the cover for an art journal (out of a recycled coffee sleeve) and painted the coffee cup while i was at it.

Finished a painting I started a week or so ago..Never Hurts to Laugh.

I actually did a lot of arty creative things today, but dont have anything to show yet. I ironed a whole bunch of plastic shopping bags together and am in the midst of making an apron out of them. I also did some practice at sketching while watching television tonight. Got to be ready for our trip next week! My first time with a travel journal! whoohoo

I have read a million times that even if you don’t feel like working out just do a few min and then usually you will feel better and end up doing a whole workout. I think being creative is the same way – even if your dead tired and don’t feel like doing anything, if you make yourself you will get into it and do more than you planned to do. Well, that’s how it is for me at least!! I love looking at everyone’s creations every day too!

I am busy creating for a gallery show, but my entry’s sort of secret, so I’m sharing a beautiful creation from one of the quilting world’s greats.

Hugs, and enjoy,

Today I had to do art “work”…I wanted to create a color mixing log of the two new pan pastels I just got so I worked on that and posted it. I figured folks need to know what goes on behind the scenes as a painter, not just what they see happening at the easel.

[...] Art Every Day Month – Day 19 Step 1: Prepare my work surface for encaustic time. Clean off the clutter. Plug in my griddle. Open the window and turn on the fan. I must really love encaustic painting to open the window with such a chill in the air. I am thankful the fan is pulling air out rather than flooding the room with cold. [...]

I’m up working late…got out of work late so this is the first chance I’ve had to post today. I’m a night person so that’s okay :) Here’s to:

All Nighter’s

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Late as is getting to be my usual. It is now the 20th here, but still the 19th on the other coast, so it counts. :)

I haven’t gotten creative yet today, but shared a Flash Mob Mall video of Handel’s Messiah that went viral. lol

Stay inspired!
