Art Every Day Month Check-In: November 9th

November 9th, 2009

aedmlogored

Today is the 9th day of Art Every Day Month. Already it seems like the month is flying by. But I love this connection I make with myself each day when I sit down to create. It makes the month of November feel sacred to me. And I'm so grateful to be sharing it with all of you!

The box below is a widget that I provide each day as an optional place to share a direct link (blog post or flickr image) to that day's creation. If you don't have something to share today, don't worry about it! Share when you can. In the meantime, be sure to check out what other participants are creating! Check out the links from today's post and the links in the sidebar for instant inspiration. You can also see lots of great work in the AEDM flickr group. Feel free to share your work there too!

If you use the widget, please link to a specific blog post (or specific image if you're linking to a flickr page or other website) instead of your main blog page or website. If you want to share, but don't have a specific page to link to, feel free to use the comments section of this post to share what you're working on. If you're posting less than once a day, no problem! Simply use the latest one of these posts to share a link to your creation. For some, it's too much to keep up with posting every day, but don't let that get you down. Do it if you can and if you can't, just keep on creating, that's the most important part. If you get off track and miss a few days of creating, don't let that freeze you up either. Just pick up where you left off and keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. You are making your life a more creative one with each step.

If you're new to Art Every Day Month, check out the AEDM info page for all the details, then send me an email to sign-up before you use the link widget to share your creations. (If that email link isn't working, you can email me at leah at bluetreeartgallery.com)

Instructions: Please see the Art Every Day Month Instructions post if you have any confusion about how to post your link or how to sign up.

Twitter: Are you participating in AEDM and you're on Twitter too? I'm on there as @leah_art and I've been using the hashtag #aedm to mark Art Every Day Month tweets. I also started a Twitter list for AEDM which can help you easily find Twitter folks who are participating. If you're not on the Twitter list yet and would like to be, send me a DM (Direct Message on Twitter.)

The call to create is a calling like no other, a voice within that howls for expression, shadow longing to merge with light. ~Jan Phillips

I read this quote in an art piece that Gina created for Art Every Day Month. I wanted to find the source of the quote and discovered it here in this article. So inspiring!

Whoa, what a weekend. Busy, busy and lots of creating, now I must go wash my hair for work tomorrow : )

posting catch up on the last 3 days…… mostly photos…. looking forward to mixed media work this week….

I have been in a nature mood this weekend, playing with my watercolour pencils. Tomorrow I have a collage to do and then some photography!

Hi Leah, I wanted to let you know that I haven’t given up on CED, I was away for six weeks, and it has taken me a couple of weeks to get all my photos into order and on my blog. Keep up the wonderful art. Janet

Will be posting day 8, 9 and 10 tomorrow all in one go! Better late than never!

today’s project is a fun one. I’m getting together with two other members of a non profit board that I serve on to go shopping for supplies. Each year we decorate a Christmas Tree for a local competition among business and charitable organizations. So each year the “creative” committee gets together to brainstorm for ideas for a standout tree. Two years ago was our first entry which took third place and last year we took first place. We’re going to have a tough time following that act but we have another great idea so wish us luck…it’s all for a wonderful cause, the Arc of NEPA (Association for Retarded Citizens)

thank you for essay you shared…and the space to share art!!

What a busy weekend. Lot got done, and art got created too.
I am looking forward to another week of creating with everyone.

here itty bitty kitty!

I just got back from a trip to Yosemite. What a beautiful and peaceful place. I’d really like to post some of the photos I shot. Is there a way to do that here?

what a whirlwind weekend – no time like i thought i would have but I did take time to photograph my tree for getting arboreal.

I am doing something everyday but I am trying to keep up with the blog posts!

Hudson, yes, you can post pictures in the AEDM flickr group, here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/arteverydaymonth/

I have finally got the post up !

Oh, Leah, the article just about sent me over the moon! Someone understands!!! I feel so often that I am going against the grain when I create. It’s not a “typical” way to express. Journaling is. Lecturing. Reading, writing. But art?? When we were challenged to journal daily in our Bible study, I started my art journal, and I finally shared it with the group. How supportive they were!!! I wish more would be said that we don’t have to follow a single path in our expressions. Thank you for the article. I am going to share it!

Leah-
I’ve just had a few moments to visit many of the sites participating in your challenge while the baby sleeps. I just want to thank you for your wonderful challenge and for helping bring creating to the forefront of our days. I love seeing all the beautiful souls participating as well. Happy day to you.

Today’s post is about a whole new form of creativity: the art of raking leaves off my front lawn. Read about my journey through exhaustion, defying all expectations for what this meek looking mama can do when she makes her mind up to do it.

Dear Leah,
I’ve had to re-post my entry today because of a delightful surprise through my letterbox which I share in this new post. (Will check wether the link to that old post is still the same with this new entry)
Creative Every Day Month is wonderful and I am happy to be engaging with other members. :)

I made a video tutorial for easy and fun, grungy texture. It works with acrylics or oils.

So glad to finish up a project that had been languishing….intend to do more “art” (vs craft) later this week.

It’s been a busy weekend for me too! After posting my Day 5 results, where I finished a watercolor painting, I also shared it on Plurk, and one of my Plurk buddies immediately wanted to buy it! WoooHooo!! That was exciting! I started a new painting on Saturday and also worked on it today and though it is not finished, I made some progress. On Sunday, though I didn’t paint, I went to the mall to see a movie and while I waited to meet up with my hubby, I did some sketching / figure drawing of people in the mall and in Starbucks. Fun and challenging! People don’t stand still for very long. LOL.

I’m finally getting to so many neglected works, and starting some new ones. This challenge has me working consistently, and I love it!

Another interesting day’s work!
Thanks once again for the challenge!

I can tell that it is getting cold here….I am knitting like crazy, and having fun creating new patterns. Follow along with the journey of the puffy mittens (started today)

Oops…forgot to leave a comment when I checked in. Well…hi everyone! Not real sure what else to say. But I’m really enjoying seeing everyone’s creations.

Yay! I finished my first stitching project! I’m so appreciative of everyone’s support! Thank you Thank you! :)

Good start to the week. Almost done with this series then I will start the next set of tiny paintings.

Good luck everyone.
