Day 3: Potential

November 3rd, 2012, Comments (10)

Doodling, earlier in the day, I had the idea of acorns in the ground, untapped potential, perhaps surrounded by trees (potential realized.) After a long day, with Annabelle sound asleep, I sat down and painted it out.

Here's a detail, so you can see the acorns.

Art Every Day Month Check-In: Day 3

Welcome to day 3 of Art Every Day Month!

Someone pointed out to me that one of the links on the AEDM info page was leading to last year's sign-up page (thank you, Helen!) It's been fixed. Sorry about that! I'm going to do my best to move the links people put there to the correct place. I also noticed that some folks accidentally placed their daily links there. Please be sure to put your daily links to your blog posts or flickr images in a daily check-in post like this one. You can always find the check-in posts on my main blog page: www.CreativeEveryDay.com.

I usually post my art at the end of the day, but every morning there will be a check-in post like this one, where you can share your work whenever you're ready to do so.

The box below is a widget that I provide each day as an optional place to share a direct link (blog post or flickr image) to that day's creation. If you don't have something to share today, don't worry about it! Share when you can. In the meantime, be sure to check out what other participants are creating! Check out the links from today's post and the links on the participant page for instant inspiration. You can also see lots of great work in the AEDM flickr group. Feel free to share your work there too!

If you use the widget, please link to a specific blog post, not your main blog page or website (or you can link to a specific image if you're linking to a flickr page.) For example, last year for day one I linked to my first post: http://creativeeveryday.com/creativeeveryday/2010/11/the-owl-and-the-pussycat.html instead of my main blog page: http://www.creativeeveryday.com. This makes it easier for people to find your work.  If you want to share, but don't have a specific page to link to, feel free to use the comments section of this post to share what you're working on. If you're posting less than once a day, no problem! Simply use the latest one of these posts to share a link to your creation. For some, it's too much to keep up with posting every day, but don't let that get you down. Do it if you can and if you can't, just keep on creating, that's the most important part. If you get off track and miss a few days of creating, don't let that freeze you up either. Just pick up where you left off and keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. You are making your life a more creative one with each step.

How to participate in Art Every Day Month: Check out the AEDM info page for all the details, instructions on how to get involved, and then visit the participant sign up page before you use the link widget to share your creations. The Information page also has instructions about how to use the widget below, if you're having any trouble with it.

Survival Guide: If you feel like you could use some more support, prompts, and motivation to keep going throughout the month, check out the Art Every Day Month Survival Guide.

Twitter: If you're on Twitter (I'm on there as @leah_art), I'll be using the hashtag #aedm2012 to mark Art Every Day Month tweets. It helps to find others who are tweeting about AEDM!

Instagram: You can use the same #aedm2012 hashtag if you're playing along on Instagram.

Day 2: Mother Daughter

November 2nd, 2012, Comments (17)

To honor my sweet little girl, who turned 18 months today, I did a piece of Mother - Daughter art today, a simple pencil drawing.

The first year was a challenging one with A, mainly due to lack of sleep, but I really love this age she's at now. It's still kind of exhausting, but it's so much more fun for both of us. I delight in how quickly she learns (a little sponge!), her love of alphabet letters, her love of people, her bright smile, her silliness, her endless energy, her intensity, her sweetness. I could go on and on. She's a little sparkler, this one.

Here's my sweet girl, twirling in her tutu.

Falling Up

November 1st, 2012, Comments (15)

Day one and I'm already feeling super inspired. Bursting with ideas, excited about the excitement, energized by your energy. Thank you! I hope you feel all that energy coming your way too.

I had an idea in my head to paint a tree on a purple background with yellow leaves, but as I sketched it out today, the image came to me of leaves falling up, so I went with that. They didn't end up being yellow, perhaps another day, but I'm really taken with the idea of things falling for some reason, so I may play with that again another day. This piece is acrylic and ink on paper.

Welcome! Today is the 1st day of Art Every Day Month! I'm thrilled that you'll be joining me for a month of creating.

I'm preparing this post in a cafe on Halloween night because we've been without power for a couple days due to Hurricane Sandy (we're fine!) The power returned last night, but no internet yet, so here I sit. My heart goes out to all those affected by the Hurricane. I hope that you haven't experienced too much damage and that you and your loved ones are safe and sound.

I usually post my art at the end of the day, but every morning there will be a check-in post like this one, where you can share your work whenever you're ready to do so.
