Day 18: Hide and Seek

November 19th, 2013, Comments (6)

Did this earlier, but didn't get to post until late because I went out for dinner with some friends. Good to get out! I painted with acrylics on watercolor paper. Today was one of those days where I didn't think I could fit anything in, but I did!

Annabelle had some fun coloring and tracing around stickers in her own sketchbook today while I painted. Her dad thought having her own sketchbook might be a good idea and it was! It's sweet having a place for her to fill up pages with her drawings.

Art Every Day Month, Day 18

Today is the 18th day of Art Every Day Month. Thank you for sharing your creative selves!!

I usually post my art at the end of the day, but every morning there will be a check-in post like this one, where you can share your work whenever you're ready to do so.

The box below is a widget that I provide each day as an optional place to share a direct link (blog post or flickr image) to that day's creation. If you don't have something to share today, don't worry about it! Share when you can. In the meantime, be sure to check out what other participants are creating! Check out the links from today's post and the links on the participant page for instant inspiration. You can also see lots of great work in the AEDM flickr group. Feel free to share your work there too!

If you use the widget, please link to a specific blog post, not your main blog page or website (or you can link to a specific image if you're linking to a flickr page.) For example, in a past AEDM, for day one I linked to my first post: http://creativeeveryday.com/creativeeveryday/2010/11/the-owl-and-the-pussycat.html instead of my main blog page: http://www.creativeeveryday.com. This makes it easier for people to find your work. Mr. Linky automatically asks for a comment, leave one if you'd like (I love to hear from you!), but it's not required. It may take a little time for your image and/or link to appear. If you don't see it right away, check back in a few minutes. If you're having trouble with the sharing a thumbnail, try putting the url of your latest post in the url box. Then, when it gives you a few options for sharing an image, choose the "pick an image from your site" option. From there, you should be able to select an image of your latest work or some other image from your site. It may take a minute for your image to appear here on the blog.

If you want to share, but don't have a specific page to link to, feel free to use the comments section of this post to share what you're working on. If you're posting less than once a day, no problem! Simply use the latest one of these posts to share a link to your creation. For some, it's too much to keep up with posting every day, but don't let that get you down. Do it if you can and if you can't, just keep on creating, that's the most important part. If you get off track and miss a few days of creating, don't let that freeze you up either. Just pick up where you left off and keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. You are making your life a more creative one with each step.

How to participate in Art Every Day Month: Check out the AEDM info page for all the details, instructions on how to get involved, and then visit the participant sign up page before you use the link widget to share your creations. The Information page also has instructions about how to use the widget below, if you're having any trouble with it.

Survival Guide: If you feel like you could use some more support, prompts, and motivation to keep going throughout the month, check out the Art Every Day Month Survival Guide.

Twitter: If you're on Twitter (I'm on there as @leah_art), I'll be using the hashtag #aedm2013 to mark Art Every Day Month tweets. It helps to find others who are tweeting about AEDM!

Instagram: You can use the same #aedm2013 hashtag if you're playing along on Instagram.

Creative Every Day Challenge participants: If you're not doing Art Every Day Month, you can still use any of the daily Art Every Day Month check-in posts to leave your weekly link. Feel free to keep checking in on Mondays or post whenever you have something new to share!

Day 17: Hot Air Balloons

November 17th, 2013, Comments (3)

Today, I drew an image with oil pastels, just to mix it up. Doodling around before drawing, I came up with the image of a woman releasing miniature hot air balloons.

Today, we got Annabelle her own sketchbook, along with some twistable crayons to color with. She had a blast coloring with them. She's saying, "Ta da!" in the picture.

Day 16: Say Something

November 16th, 2013, Comments (9)

Last night I was listening to the song "Say Something" and this image popped into my head. I sketched it onto a post-it note on my nightstand, so I wouldn't forget it and then painted it out on watercolor paper this morning.

I haven't had time to create with Annabelle yet today and she has little friends over now, but I'm sure she'll get up to something creative today.

Day 15: Sweet Dreams

November 15th, 2013, Comments (5)

I was doodling last night and this idea came out, so today I brought it to life in acrylic paint and ink on paper. I'm calling it Sweet Dreams, something I say to Annabelle each night before I leave her room.

Today, Annabelle asked to play with play dough while I was painting. Here's she's showing off the giant caterpillar she made.

Day 14, Winter Fairy

November 14th, 2013, Comments (5)

The idea for this was in my sketchbook, but it was originally stars falling from her hands. I decided to make her a snow fairy instead. It's acrylic on a small 6"x6" canvas.

Annabelle had dance class today and learned about jetes. So cute! That was going to be her art for the day, but we ended up doing a Christmas crafty activity with a friend this afternoon. A pom pom Christmas tree! Don't worry, she was eating banana chips in the picture, not pom poms. :)
