Red at Night

November 28th, 2010, Comments (32)

For day 28 of Art Every Day Month, I was back in my studio and feeling like playing. I worked with fluid acrylics on wet watercolor paper, sprinkled on some salt, and then let it dry. I looked for an image in it after, and then painted and drew in the figure, moon, and stars. It's about 7"x9."

Blue Lady

Today, for day 24 of Art Every Day Month I wanted to just play and see what happened. As I painted, a figure began to form, so I went with it. This "Blue Lady" is about 6"x12" with acrylic on canvas paper. Although I wasn't planning, I just noticed now, it looks like she has long purple hair.

If you live in the States, I hope that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday! The check-in posts will be here, so check-in if you can.

We're going to my dad and step-mom's for the holiday with my siblings. And we'll be having dinner at my mom and step-dad's on Friday evening. I pre-made some inkblots in a small sketchbook to take with me to make art out of while I'm away from home. I plan to post them, as long as I can get online!

p.s. Tomorrow's the last day to pre-order my 2011 Calendar and get a drawing on your birthday!

Two Days of Art

November 23rd, 2010, Comments (15)

Today, for day 23 of Art Every Day Month, I created "Let Go" using acrylic and ink on canvas paper to paint this image. I was inspired by a message Goddess Leonie wrote on Facebook. She wrote, "Goddess Reminder: let it go. Let the pain go. Let the sadness unravel. Let it go. Today, you have permission to feel light of heart." Ah, I love that.

Speaking of Leonie, she has just released her 2011 Creating my Goddess Year workbook, planner, and calendar. I got the 2010 one and it was awesome! This one looks even better.

And because I couldn't get yesterday's art up here while my site was down, here it is, "Moon Faced." With this one I worked with Inktense pencils on watercolor paper. It's about 9"x10".

Again, sorry about the technical issues in the last 24 hours. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing for the rest of the month!

Circle Bird

November 21st, 2010, Comments (20)

I had to wait a long time to post my art for day 21 of Art Every Day Month because it took forever to dry! I decided to experiment with some glass bead gel over collage and acrylic paint. It wasn't a complete success, because something smudged and I couldn't see it until after it dried. But what I learned (and loved) is that gold paint over collage with glass bead gel looks really cool! And also, this stuff is hard to photograph! Ah well. Sometimes, you need to play and make some mistakes to move on to the next thing! This little guy is about 4"x4" on panel.

Flyaway Thoughts

November 20th, 2010, Comments (17)

For day 20 of Art Every Day Month, I got off to a bit of a late start. We had a late night at the movies and then we had a fun afternoon babysitting my best friends 1 year old twins (so cute!) After a nap, I sat down to sketch and this idea popped right into my head. Again, I worked with the Inktense pencils on watercolor paper.

The latest Harry Potter movie was great by the way. The only part I didn't like was the crew of teenage girls who talked through the entire movie. Grr. But I thought it was one of the best of the series and very well acted. I may have to see it again (hopefully in a quieter theater!)

Apple Tree

November 19th, 2010, Comments (19)

For day of Art Every Day Month, I did a simple drawing with Inktense pencils. The little owl snuck in at the last minute. I'm thinking if I have a girl, I might do an owl nursery.

Tonight, the hubster and I are off to see the Harry Potter movie and I'm so excited!

I hope your weekends are brilliantly creative and fun!

p.s. If you pre-order my 2011 calendar by Thanksgiving (right around the corner!) you can get a personal drawing on your birthday! Get yours here.

Singing Bird

November 18th, 2010, Comments (22)

I drew a little bird in my sketchbook last night, so I decided to bring it to life today for Art Every Day Month, with collage, paint, and ink. It's about 6"x7" on paper. More birdfeeder inspiration I think. Although there are mothering images in the collage, that got entirely painted over, so I think it's a mother bird as well. :-)

Held

Day 17 of Art Every Day Month. Another intuitive piece. I did the collage elements first and saw the figure so clearly! I like how the dress came together, however, I feel like I want to change the background, but for now this is where I'll stop.

Cardinal Tree

November 16th, 2010, Comments (33)

For day 16 of Art Every Day Month, I've done a simple drawing of a tree full of cardinals. I was inspired by the bright, bright red cardinals in our yard today. They're so pretty! Their color is even more jolting on gray days like today. I've drawn it in in on 6"x12" canvas paper.

I think this would look cute on a holiday card!

Thought Clouds

For day 15 of Art Every Day Month, I decided to play with Caran d'Ache water soluble pastels. The image just kind of popped into being when I put pastel to paper. It's about 9"x12" on paper.

I also spent some time with my best friend today crafting Christmas ornaments, which I'll have to snap some pictures of later. I'm choosing not to think about the fact that the holidays are right around the corner. Yikes!

Time was going so slow this fall, while I was waiting for ultrasound appointments and such, but all of the sudden time is speeding up! I am looking forward to Thanksgiving dinner however. I'm going to be trying out this pumpkin cornbread recipe and bringing that along. Has anyone tried it or something like it?
